Hello, everyone.
I've volunteered to teach a networking class one afternoon a week at a
local public school. The class will have two dual-CPU servers, 10
workstations, and a 16-port hub to play with. I'm still working out
what I will cover in the class, although at the very least there will be
a demonstation of LTSP involved. I'm not sure exactly how much of the
class will cover LTSP; I'm getting some resistance to installing
anything on the workstations and may do the whole thing in LTSP.
Here's the off-topic part: I can't get the SMP kernel to boot on this
machine. I'm using RedHat 7.2 with all their updates (2.4.9-31 kernel).
With their "Enterprize" kernel, the console goes blank just after the
second CPU is identified.
With their "SMP" kernel, the system freezes just after the second CPU is
identified. A few lines up, there's a warning about an unexpected
OI-APIC.
Does anyone have any suggestions? This server is configured very oddly:
two 933MHz CPUs, but only 512MB of RAM.
