I installed netscape as local application
and I use something like to activate it:
rsh ws055 /usr/local/netscape/netscape -display ws055:0
It works fine and Netscape is really running on my
workstation instead of server.
Now, if I push Print button from Netscape menu
I've got Print properties page.
Netscape's going to use lpr command.
As far as I understand there's no lpr or lp commands in
the workstation filesystem.
I've tried to copy lp command (and appropriate libraries)
to the workstation's filesystem.
Still I need lpd on the workstation and some configuration
files like /etc/lpd.conf and /etc/printcap, etc.
I've copied needed files to the workstation filesystem.
Then there was a problem with /tmp directory
since lp command requires a temporary dir.
Ok, setting LPR_TMP variable to my home directory
(which is automounted and has read-write) helps alot.
Then lpd requires read-write access to /var/spool/lp,
I don't have it in the workstation's filesystem.
At this point I've stoped and put a question onto
this mailing list.
It seems I choose a wrong way.
Is there a simple way to print to a remote network
printer from a LOCAL Netscape?
Alternative solutions?
How do you people print from Netscape?
