Thought you might have it then David but this is what happened:
# ls /tftpboot/lts
vmlinuz-2.4.9-ltsp-6 vmlinuz-2.4.9-ltsp-lpp-6
tftp
tftp> connect norman3
tftp> get vmlinuz-2.4.9-ltsp-6
Transfer timed out.
tftp> quit
# tftp
tftp> connect 192.168.1.3
tftp> get /tftpboot/lts/vmlinuz-2.4.9-ltsp-6
Transfer timed out.
tftp> quit
# tftp
tftp> connect 192.168.1.3
tftp> get vmlinuz-2.4.9-ltsp-6
Transfer timed out.
tftp> quit
#
So what else can I try?
I have removed the rmp installed ltsp_core,
downloaded and compiled the .tgz and initialised it.
The only tftp-server I have tried for Mandrake
was one I pulled from rpmfind and have tried both the
Mandrake and the Mandrake-cooker versions.
I wonder if I should try to find a source version
and compile it on my PC.
Thanks for the help so far to you and everyone else.
I feel sure that even the ideas which have not worked
have at least eliminated some possibilites.
I am trying to get LTSP working so I can set it up
for at least one local school which hasn't much
cash so it is important for me to keep trying.
The PC I am using as a server is a 500 MHz AMDK6 2/500
PC on which I try lots of different (Linux ) O/S's
and If necessary I could put Debian potato on it
and install the .deb packages. There is nothing on it
I need to keep.
( btw I have not tried Debian yet )
thanks again,
norm
