Hi list, I only wanted to say my 2 cents on this problem: you must consider that a switch is not, most of the times, a faster hub. It requires more attentions and knowledge on networks than any other hub. 3com, for example, has a nice http gui to set it up! One problem that is quite often encountered is that many switches, to speed up things, have a filter on broadcast packets, that sometimes are too tight and causes DHCP requests to be cut out. So also check this. Also, pay attention to the full/half duplex thing, even if this should only cause a little slow-down in the worst scenario. Sorry if all this was already contemplated: just my 2c!!
