I am trying to compile the 2.4.18 kernel to work with ltsp. I keep getting
a kernel panic with VFS stating that it cannot mount the root fs. After
some digging I found that it is having a problem mounting the ram disk
during initrd.

The Workstation is an AMD 1.4GHz with 1G of RAM. When I take a stick out
(putting it to 512M) it works just fine. The pre-built 2.4.9 kernel that
comes with ltsp works just fine.

I hope to run all the applications locally (since the machines are so
beefy) and have a common share tree among the workstations.

Any ideas as to how to get the workstations to boot with 1G of ram?

Or even what was done to the packaged ltsp 2.4.9 kernel to make it work.

Any info or help would be great.

Thanks.

Augustine Ortiz
