Please include an exact error message or the last several
lines of output on the workstation so we know exactly what
you're seeing.

In the meantime...  The client doesn't actually "search"
for a syslog daemon.  It just starts a local syslog daemon,
which sends its messages to the LTSP server's syslog
daemon.  Syslog doesn't search for the receiving daemon,
though.  It uses a udp port, so there's no real connection
built.

I suspect that it's actually breaking right *after*
starting the syslog daemon.  Look in
/opt/ltsp/i386/etc/rc.local to see what comes after the
syslog daemon starts.
