Gary,

There's a problem with the really old bootroms on those
cards.  They don't pass the kernel parameters properly.

But, there is a way to deal with it.  On the LTSP.org
contrib page, there is a document from Jason Pattie
describing how to use an older bootrom to download a
newer Etherboot image, which then will turn around and
download the kernel.   Kind of a 2-phase boot loader.

That should take care of it.
