The DCOP server is the method by which KDE apps communicate with each other.
What version of KDE are you running? I seem to remember that if you were
running KDE 2.2.x and you logged in to the server more than once using the
same login, after one of the sessions is logged out the remaining sessions
for that login break. Seems to be fixed though in 3.0.x.
