hi guys,

i am working in tech support in a big commercial organization..call center (< 5000 users).....unfornately we are using NT on workstation and servers...............i am sick and tired of NT bcos of frequent crashes and fact NT requires army of support professionals to maintain network.

I was thinking of migrating fully to linux.....but there r some problem

1) We got Vb applications we need 2 run at clients

2)GUI should be better or aleast like NT

3)MUST have near 100% uptime

4)Speed should be fast

so i started doing my own r&d, found out thin client  architecture is bes BCOS

1)Centratlizied administration

2)Open source ....its FREE (to delight of finance dept) in comparison with Citirix Metaframe server which cost a ton

3)Enable zero mentaince...admin a reality

after digging a lot i was able get some ideas

1)Use existing computers as beowulf cluster 2 run applications

2)to win32\VB programs use wine \ Vmware\or Adavanced Server ????

3)Should nodes should completely diskless or with harddisk .....o????

can I also thinking of using cd to boot and connect 2 server ...with cd having general purpose applications like kinnopix....and run other process/user sepecific  apps from servers is it possible ?????

I just designing the whole system......i hope to be able 2 give a complete solution 2 my company in around next 8-12 months

I want to migrate maximum possible................ABM(Anything but micro$oft)!!!!

I was MS guy recently but got dissappointed with Ms efficiency and BSD (Blue screen death)....i fell in love with linux around six months back and still am....but NO LINUX expert .....can u guys help me?????

plz give ur views ...whether solutions i thinking upon is correct....and what can be better solution ...if u have ....ur similar experience u want to share .....and HOW ABOVE all CAN THIS SOLUTION cCAN WORK IN MISSION CRITICAL ENVIORMENT..........................

thanx in advance

PaGuX
