You can try Wine, etc. Win4Lin has a terminal server edition and runs
most windows applications. Wine is Free and Win4Lin cost 125$ per user +
windows licenses.

Linux run much more stable than Windows NT.

You don't need hard disks on the nodes, you only need 32-64 MB RAM.
