Hi, I am consdering using a thinclient as a way of reducing noise. I am intending to move my linux box into another room and access via
- P90 with 32mbRAM, eepro100 (pci) with a boot rom (intel boot rom) - possibly using USB massstorage for swap space But I really need sound output to stay with the client. I have a spare soundcard but I've no idea how to get sound going from server to client. I'm looking at NAS (Network Audio System) but I'm unsure how to implement this if I'm booting off the network. Is this possible when booting off the network or would removable media such as CD be a requirement? Also, can I use VLC (Video Lan Client) to retain the ability to watch videos? I find it a shame that the X protocol is so bandwidth intensive. I don't mind up giving up the ability to play games but I don't want to lose sound and ability to watch videos. TIA for your expertise :) ----- Thank you for your time. (Please Type "REPLY:" in subject field if you wish to highlight your response, thx). PGP comms are available on request.
