First of all, I am new to using LTSP so take the following with that
expertise in mind.

I have had a bit of success using a network bootable laptop with the
esound network sound program. This seems to work well with programs
that support it. I am using XMMS to play sound output from the
terminal. All that was required in my case was to set the ESPEAKER
variable to the correct hostname for the client. It does require that
you assign a known hostname to the client so that the esound program can
resolve the ip from the hostname.

I needed to make some modifications to the lts.conf file. I added the
following

SOUND=Y
SOUND_DAEMON=esd
VOLUME=100
MIC_VOLUME=0 # I have not tried to use the mic
CD_VOLUME=75 # I have not used this either
SMODULE_01 = soundcore
SMODULE_02 = uart401
SMODULE_03 = sb # soundblaster?

I hope that this helps. I believe that I got this information from the
contrib area on the LTSP.ORG web site. The author's name is Boris
Reisig.

I cannot comment on the video since I have not tried it. I would be
interested in knowing if it worked though.

Cheers and good luck

Steve
