you're first two questions were already answered, so I'll skip those,
however the third may be a hung NFS process.  You can stop and restart the
nfs process without rebooting the machine, that would atleast give you a
start of where to troublshoot

i'm not sure of the syntax and I'm not near my linux box, but i believe it
is something similar to the following

/etc/init.d/rc nfs stop
^^^  start

i think that will stop and then ultimately start the process.
