in /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/lts.conf

if "it" is connect to a windows terminal server - which is not the
standard ltsp function - then, yes I think you don't need to use ICA.
You can run rdesktop instead (for perfomance reasons, you will want to
run it locally, i.e. on the then-not-so-thin terminals). But I think
rdesktop will not give you more than 8 bit colors :-(

Don't take my word for any of this, I have never used it, but go to
www.rdesktop.org and get the facts.

What has the resolution (modeline) to do with the color depth?
