Thanks for the suggestions. In order to echo anything through the
printer, I first had to turn off the settings in the /etc/lts.conf that
set up the printer...otherwise I get the "device busy" error. After
turning that off and resetting the terminal, echoing or 'cat'ing data
(aren't unix commands the best!) it doesn't do anything to the
printer... no blinking light, nothing. This might be a clue?
