I spent a great deal of time getting a network-bootable card to come up...even
after I read the FAQ. Then I eventually dumped it, using instead a kernel image on a
floppy. That got me as far as a grey screen. And then it occurred to me that all of
this work is destined to be meaningless several times as the OS updates start to roll
out. (Meaning, I'd have to be at work before anyone else to work out the problems
before the other workers come in...)
The ability to play local sound isn't something the lion's share of business
computers need (or want) in close quarters. Local apps aren't that useful on the
thinner clients...and debugging an installed setup can be a pain.
I just want something for a streamlined install, a program smart enough to be
conditional at install-time so that little changes aren't a show-stopper, and
something 'sold' as being Redhat-centric so I don't have to maintain SuSe, Connectiva
and all the other distros that I don't use, anyway. I don't expect it to be popular
in timezones past GMT, but for America, it should be a pretty good fit.
