I had and have similar problems getting X to work in lts 3.0. I have gotten the machines to boot and work, but only with XFree 3.3.6 servers. I can't seem to get 4.0 servers to work for the life of me. I have tried different video cards and have used some of those cards previously with xfree 4, so I know they should work. Auto detect doesn't work at all. The cards I have tried are a Diamond FireGL1000 pro (both AGP and PCI versions) Matrox Millenium and Mystyque PCI cards and a fairly new nvidia based elsa card (using nv driver, not nvidia drivers). I think it is an xserver problem, but I haven't figured out what yet.
I can tell you that the problem may not be distro specific at all. I am in fact using Gentoo 1.4rc1 not redhat or mandrake. I'll post more when I get it worked out, hopefully it will help someone else. -db On Wed, 2002-12-18 at 06:22, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Brian, > > The problem you are having with the blank screen in X windows is > exactly the same problem, whether you are dealing with LTSP 2.x > or LTSP 3.x.
