Hi all folks,
Where shall be the correct place adding following 3 lines in
/opt/ltsp/i386/etc/lts.conf

I conducted following tests:
1) The server was directly connected to a diskless client using obsolete
monitor via a crossover cable
a)
/opt/ltsp/i386/etc/lts.conf
- snip -
[Default]
SERVER = 192.168.0.254
XSERVER = auto
X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL = "PS/2"
X_MOUSE_DEVICE = "/dev/psaux"
X_MOUSE_RESOLUTION = 400
X_MOUSE_BUTTONS = 3
USE_XFS = N
LOCAL_APPS = N
RUNLEVEL = 5
X_MODE_0 = 640x480 31.5 640 664 704 832 480 489 492 520 +hsync
+vsync
X_MODE_1 = 800x600 40 800 840 968 1056 600 601 605 628 +hsync
+vsync
X_MODE_2 = 1024x768 44.9 1024 1048 1208 1264 768 776 784 817 interlace
#------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#
# Example of specifying X settings for a workstation
#
[ws001]
XSERVER = auto
LOCAL_APPS = N
USE_NFS_SWAP = N
SWAPFILE_SIZE = 48m
RUNLEVEL = 5
- snip -
It worked without problem. The obsolete monitor the client could be
read but the screen resolution could not be toggled.
b)
/opt/ltsp/i386/etc/lts.conf
- snip -
[Default]
SERVER = 192.168.0.254
XSERVER = auto
X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL = "PS/2"

X_MODE_0 = 640x480 31.5 640 664 704 832 480 489 492 520 +hsync

X_MODE_1 = 800x600 40 800 840 968 1056 600 601 605 628 +hsync

X_MODE_2 = 1024x768 44.9 1024 1048 1208 1264 768 776 784 817 interlace
- snip -
Neither the monitor of the client could be read nor the screen
resolution could be toggled. The monitor screen was vibrating.
2) The server was directly connected to a diskless client using a 17"
monitor via a crossover cable
a)
/opt/ltsp/i386/etc/lts.conf
- snip -
[Default]
SERVER = 192.168.0.254
XSERVER = auto

#
[ws001]
XSERVER = auto
LOCAL_APPS = N
USE_NFS_SWAP = N
SWAPFILE_SIZE = 48m
RUNLEVEL = 5
- snip -
It worked. The monitor of the client could be read at LOW resolution,
600x480 I suppose. But its screen resolution could not be toggled
b)
/opt/ltsp/i386/etc/lts.conf
- snip -
[Default]
SERVER = 192.168.0.254
XSERVER = auto
X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL = "PS/2"
X_MOUSE_DEVICE = "/dev/psaux"
X_MOUSE_RESOLUTION = 400
X_MOUSE_BUTTONS = 3
USE_XFS = N
LOCAL_APPS = N
RUNLEVEL = 5
#------------------------------------------------------------------------------

XSERVER = auto
LOCAL_APPS = N
USE_NFS_SWAP = N
SWAPFILE_SIZE = 48m
RUNLEVEL = 5
X_MODE_0 = 640x480 31.5 640 664 704 832 480 489 492 520 +hsync
+vsync
X_MODE_1 = 800x600 40 800 840 968 1056 600 601 605 628 +hsync
+vsync
X_MODE_2 = 1024x768 44.9 1024 1048 1208 1264 768 776 784 817 interlace
- snip -
It worked. The monitor of the client could be read at high resolution.
But its screen resolution could not be toggled
Kindly advise. Thanks in advance.
Stephen Liu
