I'm actually working on getting this working on Gentoo myself. I'm also trying to
write some Gentoo Guides for LTSP to eventually submit to the project. There is some
talk about this at their forums.

(Skip down to the bottom of the first page on this one as most of it has to do before
LTSP was in portage.)

(This is the site of the guy who is currently working on the ebuild.)

++ http://www.ritchietribe.net/~josiah/ -- My Website
(Look for my guide on LTSP, not much yet, but in process as I get time.)

When you put this together, if you could track your steps I'd appreciate getting my
hands on them. I've even been offering others access to my blog to track it if they
want. I'm looking for what steps others have to take so I can write a good and
accurate guide doc for gentoo on it. for coming users.

Seems like this is a job for SAMBA. I am using very successfully as the main and soon
only file server on our network. (Good Riddance NT.) You'll notice I'm also working
on a SAMBA/LDAP Replacement Guide for the NT PDC.
