This is my first attempt at using the LTSP.
Following directions, I downloaded the four files
ltsp_core-3.0.9-i386.tgz
ltsp_kernel-3.0.5-i386.tgz
ltsp_x_core-3.0.4-i386.tgz
ltsp_x_fonts-3.0.0-i386.tgz
and installed them. After some debugging, the LTSP kernel
loaded and started to initialize the X-terminal system.
Things came to a halt when trying to setup XFree86.
The final console messages were:
---
Building the XF86Config file
Building the start.ws script
Starting syslogd
/usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86: No such file or directory
---
And it is true. Both of the usr/X11R6/bin directories,
the one in the installation tree (the untared ltsp_x_core/i386/bin)
and the one under /opt/ltsp/i386) were empty.
No XFree86 anywhere in the four *.tgz files.
I tried copying the XFree86 from my server into the LTSP
directory tree, but got into wrong compiler and library problems.
I then downloaded and installed
ltsp_x336_svga-3.0.0-i386.tgz
and got the LTSP client to boot up. However, the display leaves
something to be desired - scrolling text in an xterm window sheds
pixels, leaving little dots on the screen.

So - How do I get a XFree86 Xserver for the LTSP X-terminal?
