Hi Peter,
I have been using 'vortex-diag' from the 'diag-ether' group of
utilities to program bootproms on 3com 3c905b-tx network cards. This setup
has been working great for me. If you look into 'libflash.c' (a source file
used in by diag-ether for programming flash chips) here:

http://www.scyld.com/pub/diag/libflash.c

you will see AT29C010A is a supported flash chip. Are you sure the ones you
are looking at arent AT29C010A's instead of AT29C010? Im not sure if there's
a difference (at least in terms of programming) between the A and non-A
version. You may want to buy one or two just to make absolute sure.

Hi Again

I have some (about 24) 3c905b-tx cards which is placed in some rather old Athlon machines.
Before I go ahead and buy 24 AT 29C010-90 PC flash roms I want to be sure that these are the
right ones for making diskless workstations. So, could someone please verify this: I should
be able to program the flash roms on the card when they are running linux

- Best regards,

Peter M. Nielsen
