Well there are multiple solutions to any problem. This one works well in
the kind of enviroment I am involved in - where anybody who enter the
computer room at night is trying to nick the server.

I never tried to bash your script, I simply wished to point out an
alternative. This alternative being of the q&d variety I guess. 
The idea with my script is for it to run once daily to kill of stale
logins etc. at a time when the lab is otherwise empty, not just wipe old
processes. 

In the end I guess cut and paste remains equally simple for either one
:)
As for samba under /home, I won't say anything.
