So just to be clear, you are able to use a rtl8139D based NIC with
Etherboot?

Although I have used Etherboot in the past, my more recent experience lies with burning PXE ROMs. I am afraid I have deleted the earlier messages in the thread but IIRC, the symptoms that were described (i.e. no menu displayed) are much more likely to be down to incompatible ROMs than problems with Etherboot itself.

Not sure if it helps, but I have just downloaded an Etherboot rt8139 image from romomatic, programmed an AT49N001-55 and dropped it into an RTL8139D card - I get the Etherboot startup screen and all the usual MAC/no cable detected messages. I can't test further because I haven't got anything to boot with Etherboot at the moment [g],

All the best, Nial.
