If you are running Redhat, then edit your /etc/sysconfig/desktop
file and add a new line:

   DISPLAYMANAGER=KDE


If you have any other lines in the file, leave them alone.

Also, the above line does NOT mean that KDE will run, it is only
the screwy logic in /etc/X11/prefdm that looks at that line
and invokes the KDM Display Manager when that variable = 'KDE'.

You also may need to edit your kdmrc file and make sure that
xdmcp is enabled.

Once you make that change, then reboot the server.
