Yup I got them going eventually ;P

The main problem I had was NIS...I buggered the initiaztion of the maps
somehow. Also I discovered that in the nsswitch.conf file
(/opt/ltsp/i386/etc) for the clients needs to be editted to look at NIS for
hosts, passwd, etc. (side note: I might have over looked it but I didn't
notice this mentioned in the LTSP docs...if its there and I missed it please
feel free to bring out the trouts ;P)

Now as for local apps, I have ffmpeg, mp4live, KIDE, and Quantra all running
fine locally. But in order to do this I needed to recompile all of them with
the required support libaries agianst the LTSP libaries and kernel. (Does
anyone know a better way to do this?) It's alot of work but I can't get over
the preformance difference. Well worth the time IMHO.

Make sure that NIS is working properly and save yourself alot of headaches.

NIS docs:

man ypserv

(this helped even more, good walk through and explianation)
