I have never heard of a problem caused by too much swap space.
However, it is not recommended to have less swap space than RAM,
if you are going to have swap space. This is because the kernel
(by default anyway) will not free up swap space when it pages in
a page. A page paged-in from swap will stay in swap, using up swap
space, until it's freed.
