You need to write the bootrom with a suitable image (see Rom-o-Matic
and docs).

I guess it's a PROM - not rewritable. And I don't have a prommer yet.


You can (theoretically) do with using this bootrom, but you must build a customized kernel - see http://www.linuxdocs.org/HOWTOs/Diskless-HOWTO-10.html

Thanks for that tip, maybe I'll give it a try. I wonder if when the NIC says Rx2 Rx2... does it already have contact to my DHCP server or fails the server to recognize it at all? In the latter case, making a new LTSP kernel wouldn't make sense, as the client would never receive it anyway.
