Jim: PERFECT!!!!!!!!!! That did it. /dev/psaux let the mouse work,
which was weird -- I would have figured if that part was wrong the mouse
would either work or not work at all.

But that did it! Thanks SOOOO MUCH.

I can mark that off my "TO DO" list. I'm sure I'll be posting another
message soon, there are other items I've yet to figure out to get
working properly -- mostly little things here and there.

But thanks again. I look forward to next time. :)

Eric,

your X_MOUSE_DEVICE isn't correct.  it's not a /dev/psaux port,
it should be "/dev/input/mice"

Try that, and see if it works.

ALSO, make sure that if you are specifying this stuff in a specific
workstation section, like '[ws001]', make sure the client knows it's own
hostname.

Try setting 'SCREEN_01 = shell', and reboot. see if you get a bash
prompt. and, if you do, type 'hostname' and see if it shows you a
hostname.

if it doesn't, then you can also use either the IP address or the MAC
address in the square brackets. ie:

 [192.168.0.1]
     X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL = "IMPS/2"

Jim.

Jim: Thanks for the prompt response! Wow! Awesome :)

You have done a good job building the LTSP. It fits our application just
amazingly well, and has saved us SO MUCH money compared to the similar Windows
Server solution. So, many thanks, once again.

I just tried your setting change of "IMPS/2" in my lts.conf, and no change.
Here are my mouse-related lts.conf settings:

        X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL = "IMPS/2"   # also have tried "Intellimouse"
        X_MOUSE_DEVICE   = "/dev/psaux"
        X_MOUSE_RESOLUTION = 400
        X_MOUSE_BUTTONS = 3
        USE_XFS = N  # not sure if this is mouse-related or not?

The RESOLUTION and BUTTONS options I've commented out and have kept on, and
still no go, either way I do it.

My Window Manager is IceWM, if that makes any difference -- and our
full-screen application that runs on the server is a web-based application
which is running in Firefox v0.9.3.

Btw, Jim: We've bought 20 of the HP t5300's from DisklessWorkstation so far,
and have intentions of buying 10 more to bring us up to 30. :)

Thanks, Eric

Hello List. I'm new here, just joined today. LTSP is great, its a great
project. We're building an awesome system with it...so thanks!

Thanks. We've worked hard to build LTSP and it's always nice to
see people enjoying it.

My first problem is, I can NOT get the scroll wheel working on the Mice
that
came with the HP t5300 thin clients that I purchased from
DisklessWorkstation.
Is anyone else running these, and has gotten them working properly? I'd
appreciate any help you can provide.

My setup: LTSP v4.1, Slackware 10, HP t5300 Thin Client with the provided
HP
two-button mouse+scrollwheel.

Show us what settings you have in lts.conf.

In our testing of the T5300, we used:

  X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL = "IMPS/2"

I'm currently using an HP T-5500 as my desktop but i'm using a Logitech wireless optical mouse, and even that works well with "IMPS/2" for the scroll wheel.

BTW: These terminals work great, even at resolutions of 1800x1440
