Thanks to everyone who responded and especially to those who offered help. I'm going to move back to Slack and put LTSP on it for a small installation at home. I think that will suit me better than the other distros I've used.
On another tack, have any of y'all had success in migrating a professional services office from WinWorld to LTSP? If so, I'd be interested to know how well the user base made the migration from Windows desktop apps to OO.o or whatever you used, what sort of other problems cropped up and how it ultimately worked out. I made a little headway at my office nearly 2 years ago but got torpedoed prematurely. I set up a small pilot LTSP system, wrote an LTSP/WinBoxWorld comparison thats on the LTSP site to make the case, was told I'd be allowed to migrate a few folks over but some corporate cold feet ended things too soon. I know that I still have some web browser compatability issues when using, say, hotel booking sites and that sort of thing, using the browsers that come with Mandrake 10.
