I read the second post the same way I did the first. Both VNC and
FreeNX can run on your windows boxes and run sessions on the Linux box
-- without LTSP. Think of FreeNX as Citrix for linux.

The second question sounds like the best option if you don't need
windows. That is where LTSP comes in.

LTSP is just a wonderfully packaged collection of technologies that
already exist in linux. It uses PXE/etherboot, dhcp, tftp, X, NFS,
etc.
