Yes, this is something that i've definately been wanting to add to LTSP.

I, too, am annoyed by the behaviour of the power button, and i've been
wanting to fix this for quite some time.  Just haven't had the chance.

but, with you pointing me to some information about how to go about it, it
should make it much easier to just jump in and do it.
