hmm . . . I wasn't aware that it used the default greeter. 

I set it up via the ubuntu desktop.  In the admin panel there's an 
option to set your default gdm greeter for gnome.  This greeter applies 
to any logins on the machine, but I didn't know if ltsp used a different 
greeter than gnome.  Never tested it.
