I just change the mouse setting in KDE 3.5.2 and it seems to work fine 
for me. I've only needed to play with xmodmap to get a better layout on 
the old iMac keyboard I have plugged in.

I also once used the mouse right-handed, but have switched hands. I've 
mirrored the buttons as I found it much easier to pick up if my index 
finger was still the left button (I'm sure that I would have coped the 
other way, but I prefer it this way). It just feels right this way :)
