I have local device support working on Fedora Core 5 i386 but not FC5 x86_64.
My guess is that it is a 32- vs 64-bit issue.

Is there anyone who has local device support working on a 64-bit system?

Having had a DEC Alpha back in 1994, it is amazing that the more things
change, the more they stay the same.
