Hi, We have a Debian server that offers NFS, Samba, mail, LDAP auth etc. We would like it to offer thin client services as well, but LTSP appears to require a chroot for login which means that thin client users can't get to /home, or access any of the aforementioned services, so they can't login via LDAP etc.
Is there a standard way to provide LTSP-type functionality in an existing system, without creating a chroot, or am I missing something obvious? I could ignore LTSP altogether and install xorg with gdm / xdmcp, and any relevant desktop packages. Where it gets fuzzy for me is providing a sane network boot. Could I just point tftp at a standard kernel like one of the kernels already on the machine? Is there a standard way to provide LTSP-type functionality in an existing system, without creating a chroot? I'm surprised I can't find any relevant info. Either I don't know how to search or I'm missing something obvious. Antony ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
