I'm using Ubuntu6.10/LTSP 5 and have AutoFS installed
for automatically mounting SMB shares. I have the map
pointing to the user's directory with a credentials
file and the map file in the home directory as well.

When starting AutoFS, everything is great. The only
problem is accessing these shares using Nautilus. For
some reason, it is very slow, about 30+ seconds to go
into each folder and display it's contents, but if I
enter the directory through the gnome terminal or even
firefox (file:///) it is immediate.

I know this is an LTSP issue because when I run it
with my laptop and not as a LTSP client, the shares
mount with absolutely no problem, and Nautilus brings
up the file lists in a second, but running as a LTSP
client, it is extremely slow.

Furthermore, I've manually mounted these SMB shares by
adding entries into /etc/fstab. They mount just fine
but I have the exact same problem with Nautilus as
when using AutoFS. This all happens when running as a
LTSP client.

What can I do in order to see what Nautilus is waiting
for and try and figure out what's going? Is there
some sort of timeout setting for Nautilus that I can
change? How can I try to debug this issue and has
anyone experienced these problems before?

PS: and when is there going to be an SMB4K for Gnome already!
