Hi Antony,

no problems here with i386 at the client, ETCH & lp_server.

If you use the lp_server binary from my webpage (within the link in your post) 
you should know that this binary was built with Debian Etch i386.

Do you have a clean i386 Etch installation at the client 
(glibc = libc6 version 2.3.6.ds1-13)?

Any missing packages / errors with ltsp-build-client?

Maybe it's better to build the binary for yourself?
