Second attempt at posting. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Dan Trockman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: May 9, 2007 8:15 PM Subject: Two user account questions To: [email protected]
We have a new install of Feisty on a test server with several clients getting ready to convert a Win XP lab to (PXE) boot and have several questions before we transfer to our production server. 1. We have a user who suddenly cannot log-in and the system fails to allow for a manual addition of his account associated to his original home folder. I have tried deleting his user and group but kept his home. We see no errors in logs after we attempt to log him in, it just cycles back to login window. I have tried both with a new name and his old name. We have tried with his old name and a new home folder too. Could some item in that home folder not allow him to log-in? It is critical that we are able to allow him to retain his name as it will allow him access when LDAP authenticating. The contents of his home folder are not critical but if this happened to a student, the contents and usability are essential. 2. We are able to LDAP (AD Win 2000) authenticate users who have manually created accounts but are not able to authenticate users who do not have local accounts (on Feisty server) yet. How do we tell Feisty (and/or LTSP) to create a new account automatically when they do an initial and correct login with their LDAP user and pass? -- Dan Trockman Technology Integration The Blake School Minneapolis, MN USA -- Dan Trockman [EMAIL PROTECTED] AIM: middletrock SKYPE:dtrockman ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
