I really like the idea of being able to handle fqdn's instead of only IP's. Also the option of letting the server handle load balancing instead of only manual selection via a list would be great. This sort of decision is best left to the experts and it sounds like it is in good hands. I am sure whatever the solution is it will be great. I have also seen suggestions for ordering list based on the least used server so that if you clicked a drop down for the list the least used server would be the one at the top or the default. Is there a way keep an ssh connection to the servers and query stats to determine usage, say check the amount of users logged in and to only build the list based of servers that have a current ssh connection? If a server went down the ssh would break and the user amount would not be able to be queried so the server would not be added into the list. Then make the default server the one with the least amount of logged in users? I don't know much about how this would or does work, but if there was an constant ssh connection between servers could this also be a way to collect data to help apps such as Student Control Panel or TeacherTool better manage users across multiple servers?
