Hi,
I am having trouble to diagnose the problem with a client. I have a PC
running
Ubuntu and a diskless toshiba notebook (Intel 1.2GHz, 512MB) running as
a ltsp client.
I have another notebook, Fujitsu, that runs as a client to the same PC,
on the
same network and on the same cable perfectly. The toshiba satellite
1405 though randomly
freezes. It works for a few minutes and suddenly it locks for 30 seconds
to a few minutes. Most
of the time it returns to work after that time to lock again a few
minutes later. When it
locks the cursor continues to respond to mouse commands but everything
on the server
side does not work. I've done a memory test and it's ok. Also, the same
ubuntu version runs
on this notebook from a live cd and there is no apparent problem.
I have no idea where to start diagnosing the problem or any idea to try
to solve the problem
by trial and error. Could it be a hardware incompatibility of the
notebook network adapter or
even a hardware problem? Which log files should I look at? Could I
install a different linux for
the client to see if it works? I used ltsp-build-client with no
particular parameter. Should I
try to change lts.conf? How?
Jaime
