Is there a way to make a local machine see a network share as a block
device? If there is, then you could conceivably use software RAID 1
with a network drive and the local drive. This seems like it would work
properly if 1) both drives are working and network connections are good,
or 2) one drive fails or its host machine fails. It would be
problematic if the network connection failed, but both machines
continued to operate--the two drives would then become out of sync, and
I don't think software RAID is smart enough to re-sync them.

Any thoughts?
