More detail . . . I configured Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) on an existing computer we had (Athlon 3000plus, 1.0 Gb RAM, 40Gb HD . . . ) I created the five or six users we need prior to LTSP installation. This to (1) try Gutsy 7.10/LTSP5 and (2) to fix our client speed issue with Feisty 7.04/LTSP5.
I installed LTSP standalone server per the Ubuntuforum QUICKINSTALL guide. My initial problem was clients would hang and not start graphics. I found very little documentation (as Ubuntu 7.10/LTSP5 is so new) regarding settings for the lts.conf file. Through internet search and available readme file information, I created my on lts.conf file (which could be my problem, cannot confirm nor deny.) This got the client to connect and start. Now, when one of the existing users login at a terminal, these applets go away and are no longer present when you go back to the monitor, keyboard and mouse attached to the server itself. I need more lts.conf file information. Can anyone help?
