Xserver is a server and a what you expect from a server? That it will serve all clients including bad ones and won't allow any of them to crash it. Example: If there was a vulnerability in sendmail causing a specially crafted email message to hog the machine resources, it would be immediately considered a bug. There is no difference between Xorg and sendmail. I know FFv.3 might be a solution to this particular problem, but I can't be never sure something else will emerge few weeks later with the same symptoms.
Xorg guys are doing a great job, but this case really sucks!
