I have now three LTSP systems around my hometown, two at my work/office and one at my daughter's elementary school. I got over 100 HP t5125/5135 and over 10 HP PIII/Fujitsu-Siemens P4 PCs (no hd, no dvd, no floppy, just usb-stick. And these all works great with Ubuntu 6.06/LTSP 4.2. And I have tested them very well so I can upgrade everything to Ubuntu 8.04.1/LTSP 5 at the end of this summer (sorry CyberOrg, not openSUSE this time...). When I need next time 100 thin clients for once I will go after something like Intel/Atom/Nettops. This little Asus Eee PC has showed how much power these got for LTSP 5 (we have 8 other elementary schools, they are all Windows-only...). Geode may be good choice, too, like Linutop2 or ThinCan.... But I have not tested any of Geode based thin client.... So - good times are here to stay for LTSP 5. btw - Ricco did real man's job today...
