The KIWI kernel is compiled for newer hardware. To get around this I dropped 
an ubuntu /opt/ltsp into SuSE-11 and with minor fiddles this works fine.
(Rebuilding the kernel was a DVD download and then ...)
(ie ltsp-update-image must be given --arch=i386 as SuSE does not have the deb 
tool used to determine architecture automatically)
