You should first try to run LTSP on a local installation to understand how it works. As an example, try to setup LTSP on a local network using a hub then using a switch. You will see a huge difference (it will not work using the hub). Network latency is the main problem. In your case I would suggest to use something like NX - even VNC will certainly work better than LTSP.
