Not exactly that, but something similar is in openSUSE's LTSP:

http://en.opensuse.org/LTSP/Nomad

Do not log out, just turn off the TC, any rdp client (rdesktop/rdc
etc) can be used to resume session. This can be done on any Linux
server running xrdp.
