Sorry, I can't help yout with Ekiga. But I can test Ekiga later tonight 
and see what I find.

I have tested Mumble as a ltsp-localapps with Murmur server. It went so 
good so I joined in one podcast recording with Mumble. Another 
application that I have tested is Cheese. My machine was in both cases 
Eee 701/Zoom H2 USB mic.
