Hi there,

We run an Ubuntu 8.10 (kubuntu)  - LTSP 5 lab with 26 clients. The Server is 
a Geniune server (Intel S5000VSA) with 8GB RAM (we never exceed 4GB). It is 
a Quad core machine with 10/100/1000 onboard LAN outlet. The Clients are 
most P4 2600 machines with 512M RAM.

We recently purchased 2 quiet dual-core G41 machines - very new and very 
fast - with 1GB RAM each.
We have installed r8136 LAN cards with BOOT ROMS on them.

The problem is that it takes a FULL 10 minutes for the machines to bring up 
a login Screen. This is ridiculous and uncacceptable - Can anyone help me 
here?

The /var/log/daemon.log appears below: 192.168.0.155 is fixed for the moment
I reset the machine to time its bringing up of a login screen - see below --  
Starting at 12:00:00  with a reboot and ending at 12:10:07 with the 
appearance of the login screen:
