Dear all,
After all the testing i did with XUbuntu, i have switched back to Ubuntu
Desktop for my LTSP setup and things seems to be working fine. I have
installed Ubuntu Desktop on Ubuntu 8.04 Server 64-bit Edition.
My server hardware is a Sun Fire X4150 with 8GB RAM with 8 cores Intel Xeon
Processors. All the 4 Network Ports are enabled, I have enabled one for the
local LAN through which LTSP works, I have configured another one for samba
and the third NIC for Squid proxy on a 100Mbps lan.
My LTSP client hardware are not the same, few are Branded compaz PIII +
512MB RAM + 40GB HDD + 100Mbps NIC and the other are assembled machines P4 +
512MB RAM + 40GB HDD + 100Mbps NIC.
I noticed that, few LTSP users are complaining a delay on switching between
windows, like Firefox, Openoffice. or even by minimizing and accessing the
same window, when i checked there was about 4seconds delay.. Even the
alt-tab option is a bit slow..
Now this doesn't happen for all users, it happens for few users.. and i
checked the same user account on different machine, but the problem
persists.. The clients machines are pretty ok while working on winxp..
Is this a network issue? how do i check if this is an LTSP problem?
